Grubby little marks
25.02.09 - 07.03.09
I have always been seduced by the black and white image.
I have chosen drawing as my language and it is what I have always loved to do.
I have no patience to watch paint dry or chip away at stone.
I enjoy the physicality and immediacy of drawing.
I am fascinated by the way these grubby little marks slowly add up to something.
I have no confidence in what will appear on the paper when I begin.
I can’t look at anything without relating it to myself.
I use the simplest of tools, a 9b pencil, an eraser and paper.
I want to see what I can do with these simple tools.
I am at the centre of what I do and it is a journey to meet myself.
I hope you enjoy looking at it.
